Kaua'i Shrimp® is NOT genetically modified. CEATECH selectively breeds its shrimp for favorable physical characteristics (larger tails, thinner shells, etc.), high-health properties, and disease resistance. The original populations for these genetic lines were removed from nature over 15 years ago. Shrimp were collected from areas without history of contamination and placed into a primary quarantine facility, during which time, they were repeatedly sampled using modern diagnostic methods to confirm the absence of all known shrimp viruses. The result of generation upon generation of selective breeding is the healthiest, meatiest and best tasting shrimp available.

Unlike other farms, CEATECH uses NO compounds such as pesticides, antibiotics, fertilizers, or growth hormones in any of its production operations. Shrimp in other farms ingest the mud and the excrement that surrounds them, causing a negative effect on the taste and texture of their meat. Kaua'i Shrimp® are fed a pure, 100% Natural, soybean based feed. The result is the cleanest, whitest, firmest, and tastiest shrimp grown.

CEATECH is the only farm that harvests its shrimp by doing a "pond drop." In the cool darkness of night, the center drain of the pond is opened and all of the shrimp are sucked down and pumped directly into salt water ice. The shrimp are then individually quick frozen at the state of the art processing plant. This harvest process eliminates the need for preservatives and retains the firm texture of the meat. During the draining process, the animals become alarmed and generally purge any remaining excrement from their systems. This is why the vein of Kaua'i Shrimp® is much cleaner and less pronounced than from other sources.
