CEATECH USA: An SPF Facility

Kaua'i Shrimp® is the flagship product of CEATECH, a state of the art Aquaculture facility on West Kaua'i. Following a recent site evaluation by the State of Hawaii's Aquaculture Disease Specialist and the USDA-APHIS Port Veterinarian, CEATECH's breeding facility was identified as "an operation whose facilities and operational procedures are consistent with current industry standards for a shrimp Specific Pathogen Free (or SPF) facility". CEATECH is one of very few commercial operations in the world to be rated as an SPF facility (the strictest standard of disease free facilities).

Pond Design & Location

CEATECH's aquaculture operation looks and operates very differently from traditional aquaculture farms. Nestled along the beautiful beaches and clear waters of the Pacific in Kekaha on Kaua'i, the hot and dry climate is perfect for raising shrimp.

Seawater, naturally filtered by hundreds of feet of lava rock, is pumped from deep wells to supply the shrimp with water totally free of all pollutants and bacteria.

Kaua'i Shrimp® are the only shrimp in the world raised commercially in one acre circular ponds with center drains. An advanced design allows for optimal water exchange and waste removal to maintain excellent water quality. The shrimp live on the shallower outer edges of the pond while all waste and debris funnel down to the deeper center drain for removal. This design differs drastically from traditional ponds, which tend to collect mud, shrimp excrement, and debris while preventing the natural flow of water and oxygen
